We’re here to help you get the care you deserve.

Whether you or someone you love is seeking longer-term therapy or a solutions-focused approach for a more immediate concern, we can help.

Some clients find getting started overwhelming. We’ve answered some commonly asked questions below to cover a few basics.

Two small metallic vases with green plants inside, placed on a windowsill against a blurred cityscape background.
Two women sharing a friendly moment in a living room, one sitting on a blue couch with gray curly hair and the other standing and leaning on the couch with brown hair, both smiling and engaging in conversation.
A cozy corner with a pink velvet vintage sofa with a green cushion, a black side table with a glass vase of pink tulips, a green wall with a framed artwork, and a large window letting in natural light.

 FAQs

  • Availability varies by clinician and can include early evenings and Saturdays. Please see our Jane online booking app or contact us for more specific information.

  • It is not required to have a doctor’s referral or mental health diagnosis to pursue therapy. Most people benefit at some point in their lives from the support of a consultant or expert, much in the same way they might need help from a lawyer, doctor, or accountant.

Some extended health care providers require that you have a referral from your family physician in order to be reimbursed for some or all of your health care claim. Clients are encouraged to check with their provider.

  • Commonly, as you and your therapist review your concerns and outline your goals for therapy, you will benefit from weekly or near-weekly appointments. As your symptoms stabilize and you bring new skills and perspectives to your life, you may start to meet less frequently but regularly (e.g., every two or three weeks) before deciding it is a good time to stop.

  • Recommended rates are published by the BC Psychological Association, however, clinicians set their own rates. Clients with health benefits are encouraged to contact their provider in order to know the extent of their coverage. Fees are considered a health care cost and are tax deductible.

  • We offer both in-person and virtual services. Some clients prefer a mix of both. Clients and clinicians can together determine which arrangement works best.

  • Jennifer is licensed to treat clients in Alberta. If you live outside of BC or AB, we will work with local licensing bodies to determine whether we can work with you. If we are unable to treat you in your community, we can help you find someone who can.

  • The first step in resolving a complaint is to speak to your practitioner. Jennifer and Natalie are eager to hear your concerns and will work actively to find a solution with you. If, however, you are not satisfied, you are invited to contact the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) at chcpbc.org. The College regulates audiologists, dietitians, hearing instrument practitioners, occupational therapists, opticians, optometrists, physical therapists, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists in British Columbia.
